How Did We Get Here?
I'll be FIFTY this year.
I remember going grocery shopping with my parents when I was a little girl. Our small town had a handful of markets. Buying groceries was a less-than-20-minute affair back then. There were just a few options (sometimes only one option) for every item on the list.
Ground beef, cereal, bar soap, laundry detergent… whatever you needed, you just picked up that one item. There weren't infinite choices.
There are many, many reasons our homes are exploding with stuff in 2026:
the rise of shopping on credit
the invention of plastic
the manufacturer and import of everything under the sun
an item, solution, gadget and promise for any little ‘problem’ you might have
keeping up with the Joneses
fast fashion
beauty culture

I don't think any of it is making us happier. Honestly- it might be making us miserable. Coming home to a place that always feels like an explosion doesn't promote peace and relaxation. Feeling the guilt of all the money wasted on items that are never used is crippling and the constant frustration of ALWAYS, ALWAYS, cleaning with nothing to show for it is maddening. It's like mopping up the ocean.
This isn't meant to bring you down, but to let you know that almost everyone you know is drowning in stuff. Even if you think their home looks picture perfect- I can almost guarantee there are piles, boxes and storage totes hiding in an attic, basement, closet or a secret doom room no one ever enters.
Let go of the shame today. Let me help you tackle the piles and boxes and closets of clutter. You deserve a fresh start. You deserve a deep breath and a peaceful environment.
